Waterbury HEALTH hosts second high school career development program

Published:

Waterbury Hospital hosted its second career development program for high school students this summer.

The one-week job shadowing and hands on learning program is a healthcare internship shadowing program in partnership with Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board. Nine students from three Waterbury Public Schools participated in the program.

This was the second career development program for area high school students. A five-week Summer Bridge program also graduated nine students.

Summer Bridge is one of several programs that are part of the Youth Pipeline Initiative, formed in 2001 as a collaboration between Waterbury Hospital and Waterbury Public Schools to close the achievement gap for minority and economically disadvantaged students in Waterbury so they can matriculate and compete for college placement.
